Greece offers European leaders ‘definitive’ solution to credit crisis

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras says this is it, the ‘definitive’ path to solving the crisis, Bloomberg reports.

Tsipras briefed German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande, EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on the new proposal in phone calls, according to an e-mailed statement from the prime minister’s office. Details of the offer were not immediately available.

Some are nervous that Greek banks won’t open Monday morning without a solid plan for resolving the Greek credit crisis. Views are split on how deeply the collapse of the Greek banking system would be on global markets. In a note last week, First Trust says the Greek crisis is more “Detroit” than “Lehman” — meaning the fallout should be relatively limited but serious.
