UK hedge fund steals Pimco manager. Algebris Investments has hired Simon Peters as a senior portfolio manager, responsible for boosting the firm’s equity strategies. Peters previously worked at Pimco since August 2014 as part of the new equity team under Virginie Maisonneuve. Maisonneuve left Pimco earlier in June after the firm decided to end part of its stock business. Wall Street JournalÂ
Wilshire names new alts head. Nicolas Amato has been named head of alternative portfolio management at Wilshire Funds. Amato will lead all of the firm’s alternatives activities, including portfolio construction, manager research, and investment research. He comes to the firm from Dorchester Capital Advisors, where he worked on the research and risk teams. HedgeWeek
Alts firm names ex-Morgan Stanley CEO as senior advisor. Star Mountain Capital has named former Morgan Stanley CEO John Mack as a senior advisor and strategic investor. Mack continues to serve as an advisor for Morgan Stanley as well. Star Mountain is a alternative asset manager focused on large and private U.S. small/medium-sized business marketplace. PE HUB
