    Northern Trust hires E&F specialist. Bei Saville has joined Northern Trust Asset Management in the newly created role of client investment officer for endowments and foundations in the Multi-Manager Solutions sector. Saville comes to the firm from the $5.7 billion Helmsley Charitable Trust, where she worked as director of alternative investments. She has also worked for Pfizer, Morgan Stanley Investment Management, J.P. Morgan, and China National Real Estate Development Group. MarketWatch

    FEG exec skips to Truepoint. Truepoint Institutional Advisors has hired Christopher Meyer as managing principal. The business is a new investment management initiative from Truepoint Wealth Council. Meyer will focus on expanding the institutional investment offerings of the firm. Meyer previously worked as CIO at Fund Evaluation Group. Deputy CIOs Gregory Dowling and Alan Lenahan will be assuming his responsibilities at FEG. Pensions and Investments

    Pioneer Investments grabs Eaton Vance sales v.p. Michael Dirstine has been named to the newly created position of institutional business development officer in the U.S. for Pioneer Investments. Dirstine is based in Boston, and will be responsible for all direct institutional sales. He joins the firm from Eaton Vance where he worked as V.P. of institutional sales.     BlackRock hires Columbia Business School professor. BlackRock has hired Andrew Ang as head of the factor-based strategies group, to help the firm move further into active investing through risk premiums. BlackRock currently managers more than $125 billion across factor-based products. Ang has been working at Columbia Business School for 15 years, studying the nature of risk and return in asset prices. He has consulted for a number of large institutional managers, including the Canadian Pension Plan. Business Wire

    Goldman creates new ESG position. Goldman Sachs has appointed Hugh Lawson to the newly created role of leader of the firm’s global environmental, social, and governance efforts. Lawson will work with portfolio managers and sales teams across the investment management business to implement the ESG strategy and expand offerings. Lawson will continue to hold his previous position as global head of institutional client strategy. Pensions & Investments

    State Street names new alts CIO. State Street Global Advisors as appointed Michael Ho  for the newly created position of CIO for its alternatives business. Ho has been working as head of emerging market stock investing for the company. Ted Gekas, currently global head of active quantitative equity, will be taking over Ho’s old role. The move is part of SSgA’s initiative to expand more into alternative investments. FIN alternatives
